Test - Study Hints

Which organelle is this? What is its function?

*If you need any final extra help, Mr. Mak will be available after school on Monday in the D&T room 3:15-4:00

*If you miss the test due to Athletics or illness, it is your responsibility to co-ordinate a make-up time with Mr. Mak

*Look over the list below to see if you are ready for our test.  Focus on reviewing the topic you are less confident with!

-Review the three main ideas of the Cell Theory (ted ed video/questions)
-Understand the difference between unicellular and multicellular (organelle video/questions)
-Understand the difference between Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic (organelle video/questions)
-Describe the function of all major organelles found in animal and plant cells (organelle video/video games)
-Identify key organelles by their appearance (worksheet/organelle video/video games)
-Predict the impact on plant or animal cells if an organelle does not function properly(worksheet/organelle video/video games/textbook questions)
-Identify/explain at least two differences between organelles found in plant and animal cells (organelle video/worksheet/video games)
-Briefly explain the difference between images made by SEM (scanning electron microscopes) and TEM (transmission electron microscopes) (textbook questions)
-Arrange the levels of organization in the human body: organ, cell, organism, organelle, tissue, organ system (these are not in order!) (textbook questions/pyramid image above)
-Write the word equation for photosynthesis (inputs/outputs)  (photosynthesis video/questions)
-Explain what Photosynthesis means and where it takes place in plant cells (photosynthesis video/questions)
-Explain what Cellular Respiration is and where it takes place in plant/animal cells (photosynthesis video/questions)
-Describe similarities and differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration (photosynthesis video/questions)
-Identify and explain the function of all key components (parts) of a compound light microscope (microscope post on the website/review test)
-Calculate the total magnification of a light microscope when given the eyepiece and objective lens magnifications (microscope post on the website/review test)
-Understand what the Scientific method is, why it is used, and order key steps in the process (lab report/website post/class notes)
